Chantal Ridings Art
strings attached
24 february 2016
"Strings Attached" is a show making light of serious everyday themes. Chantal uses thread and Shweshwe fabric to convey these objects; the threads are loosely attached and potentially unraveling.
/mɪˈtɒnɪmi/
A symbolism which gives more profound meanings to otherwise common ideas and objects. We use our hands to express ourselves in ways that words often cannot, which is open to interpretation by the receiver. The artist creates hand-sewn textile pieces to represent our everyday metonymic hand gestures.

The Flower Power Art Challenge in aid of Greenfingers Charity, is bringing together the worlds of horticulture and art by encouraging professional and amateur artists alike to get out their easels, paints, pastels or even sewing needles and get creative! The charity is dedicated to creating beautiful, well-designed outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with family, friends and siblings, whether through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation.
